What Is Restumping?
Restumping can be done in a few different ways. There are inlays that are placed directly into the dentures to which the patient will wear a pair of denture retainers. This inlays operate as a sort of super glue between the dentures and retainers. This process is one that requires two visits and can be somewhat painful for some people. It is also expensive, although this depends on how many teeth have to be affected by the procedure. A more invasive way of Restumping involves the placement of new dentures inside of the existing dentures. The dentures are essentially created to mimic the shape of the original dentures, so that when they are put in, the existing dentures don't have to be removed and inspected. The process works by fitting the dentures with the right sized retainers, so that the new ones will be securely held in place and securely in position.
